I Agree with the OP.
I wanted to buy City Automatic (on Petrol) as it's a comfortable drive and with auto gear, life is a lot easier and you can drive for hours in Karachi traffic jams and still less than 50% worn than the condition you would be in if you drive a manual car in traffic jams every day in morning and evening drive after office.
However i met many people who said what are u doing ...City has no resale...the parts are so expensive...never go for auto buy manual instead as the resale is high, with auto there is no CNG hence less resale, Petrol is so expensive etc etc.... i disregard all of them as i knew what i want and bought the car.
Now im very much happy with my choice and life really is a lot easier than before.
After all come to think of it, if you spend at least 2 hours of your life DAILY on roads in your car (it's my case as there is 1 hour drive from home to office) then it should give you maxmium comfort in that time. I sleep 8-9 hours daily, and 10 hours are spent in office so that leaves only 5 hours every day in which Im not sleeping or at work.
Out of those 5 hours of my life every day, it's only logical to improve the quality of half of that time (sometimes more) by spending them in a car Im happy with, rather than worrying about the RESALE Value and remain on a crappy Suzuki/toyota Manual car with having the tension of filling CNG after every 2 days in long lines and Manually changing gear 10 times a minute in traffic jams.
So don't you all think that worrying only about the resale value in buying a car is so illogical? Comfort and Satisfaction should be the foremost aspects, along with price of course.
