Sorry guys, was busy with other stuff to check what was happening here.
@qwertypoiu: Thanks for correcting the link. I guess was too excited (hence the typo) matching rim sizes and tyres and trying them on my cars to see how they look! For me www.tirerack.com is a definate thumbs up and I find it very useful.
Not sure if the Baleno example is a complete fail and I take the point that a 185 to 195 move should be workable in most cases. But in my humble experience, it wasn't happening. The Baleno Sport with (OEM sports rims and 185 tyres) definately lost its sporty edge, it felt to bulky and handling and braking weren't any better either. After a while I decided to move back to the stock tyres (which were in half decent shape) which was a big relief. Could possibly have been aggravated because of the tyre quality, but I doubt it.
But what I am clear about is that, on the ultra-mod cars with traction control, ABS and the works, you should not change tyre size without appropriately changing the rims! This can have serious drawbacks as it messes up the onboard computer sensors etc. Not to mention that in "civilised" markets, unless the tyres/rims upgrade is recommended by a certified dealer, you could lose your warranty on your vehicle if you move away from recommended size (ouch!).
Anyways, thats my 2 cents based on my limited experience, you guys probably have more know more on these issues than I do so please go ahead and enlighten on the rules of upgrading.
