Is it necessary to change or clean the oil filter when changing auto transmission oil by opening the chamber or just change of oil through nut is sufficient?
i recently got my atf changed! according to the mechanic if u just want a quick job done just open the nut n change but if u want a good job done the chamber has 2b opened since the chamber retains 1lit of oil in it when ur changing oil! and the filter gets choked with time due to kachra collecting in it! i recommend doing it the proper way by opening the chamber and cleaning the filter and den filling it with fresh oil! and if ur using the chamber method after uv filled oil in it dont b sure k gauge pora dhaykha raha hai! take the car for a test run n make sure u touch at least 120km/hr so the car shifts into 5th gear n circulates the oil all over this will give u an accurate reading on the dipstick when u check! agar if u just fill n take it for granted k bas theek hai full ho gaya hai u might not know but oil level thora kam ho gaya hoga so take my advice! after uv changed the oil by opening the chamber take ur car for test run make sure ur car engages into 5th gear n den stop the car n check the dip stick because it might show k a lil more oil is needed! n den the next morning b4 u start the car check the dipstick again n see the reading if more oil is required pour it in if not ur all set to go!
and i forgot 2 mention 1 thing more after changing atf the proper way the car feels alot lighter drive mein and accelerates a bit better!
yes its very important when you replace the oil u should replace the filter and the gasket of the oil pan.if you dont do then from your oil pan cover the oil will leak and that mean you are loseing oil and pressure too so the gear wont shift properly and will get screwed up slowly slowly.
Thanks, your reply is most informative. Actually I had the oil changed recently and when I insisted the mechanic to open the chamber he said its not necessary as it will harm the chamber.
maybe ur mechanic is a kaamchor and he dint want 2 go thru the trouble of opening the chamber because its time consuming and ahsaan kaam nai hai! it takes at least 2 hrs do 2 the whole process properly! maybe he just wanted a shortcut so he lied 2u!
I dont think so its the mechanic being kamchor. I got my auto tranny oil changed from Honda fort and they followed the same process. Just opened the nut, changed the oil that's it. I am not an expert but just adding my two cents in.
Follow the factory specified service intervals and always use good oil.
if you want good results from your car you should use 10-40w oil or 5-20w oil it will cost you a little butit will give you good performance........
i dont know which car OP is talking about.
for example in BMW e38 , BMW does not recomend transmission oil change. i dont know why but they dont.
