2006 Koenigsegg CCX
With the CCX, Koenigsegg might reclaim the title of World's fastest. Back in early 2005, their CCR supercar had won over the production car title when it achieved 387.87 kph on at Italy's Nardo Track. However, with the introduction of the long awaited Veyron, Bugatti became the king of the hill and made the CCR second.
Now, with the CCX debut slated for an upcoming debut at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, we can only hope that Koenigsegg can get sweet revenge.
Their supercar, engineered and constructed in Sweden, certainly has the hallmarks of modern design: a carbon fibre monocoque, a supercharged V8 located mid-ship and an inboard, double wishbone suspension. But whether it has the performance to win over the 1001 bhp, 4WD Veyron will be largely up for debate, event after its debut.
From the looks of the few press images, it seems the CCX has most of the distinguishing features of the CCR, including its boldly shaped side air apertures and front splitter. What sets the CCX apart are its carbon fibre wheels, a few extra air vents and a lot we can't see. Most likely, the most impressive upgrades lie under the hood and, until the show, we will have to wait...
