We need to let the government official know, to open up the doors to new car assemblers, like Renault, which has been ready to make cars since last year, but the government is being influenced by the Toyota/Honda/Suzuki Group, not to let that car maker in.
We need to let the government know, its all in the best interest of Pakistan. They will eventually benefit the Pakistan's economy, and make more parts, when the Pakistan's auto culture develops more. Currently, what is Toyota and Honda doing. Nothing, they are just using 20% Local parts, and importing 80% parts from Japan, in shape of CKD kits.
They are fooling the government, and the people alike, while making money for themselves, HARAM ki kamaai.
It would have made sense, if they were using 80% local parts and 20% imported, but its opposite.
Only Suzuki Merhan, that too after 16 or 17 years, they are using 70% local parts. They too have failed to make the engine (the heart of a car) in Pakistan locally. Thats a shame.
So, I say, open up the whole market, and see them compete. They use the excuse that 200,000 people will loose jobs, but they are only using 20% parts made locally. Just tires and seat covers, and batteries only, made by local vendors.
Those 200,000 people will not loose their jobs (as auto assemblers say, and this is their best defense), infact, the replacement parts needed like tires and bushings, and shocks, lights, etc. made locally will still be utilized, as an aftermarket parts replacement, and the quality of those local parts will get better with time as more competition will come in, in shape of parts being imported and local vendor trying to work harder to improve their own local parts quality.
