My AC was working just fine till a few days ago until i had my AC compressor belt replaced and it stopped working. I don't know if its a coincidence but it was working until a day earlier.
The clutch doesnt engage and the condenser fan does not kick in. The RPM does not rise. Its almost as if the button isnt functioning sadly I don't have the light working on my AC switch (it went bad a couple of months ago). The blower fan turns on fine.
Things i have checked so far.
Fuses under the hood.
AC Clutch fuse under the dashboard (later on checked all the fuses)
Interchanged the relays (There are two one for condenser fan and other for Ac clutch)
Checked with another relay
Hot wired the compressor directly from the battery and it turned on. Kept it running for about 5 minutes and it was cooling just fine.
Jumped the wires over the pressure switch and nothing happened.
Opened up the glove compartment and tried jumping the thermostat but there were three wires from ECU going into a small black box. The other side of the black box had two wires going in to the coil housing. I think the actual thermostat is inside the housing. Anyways i tried jumping the wires from ecu but three wires confused me. I got hold of a 94 usdm civic circuit diagram and tried jumping with a really thin wire (a single copper from a normal household wire). Yes i know! But i do not have a multi meter. Anyways so that wire quickly melted and i decided not to mess with it any further.
Any ideas what could be preventing the AC from functioning? Oh ya i did check the AC button, looked fine and i jumped it too but nothing happened.
I don't think the system is low on gas because it cooled pretty quickly when hot wired.
I have a clean/un tampered wiring setup. Each and everything is stock, there are no added electronics and there are absolutely no cuts or taping in the wiring. I have never had any electrical problems with this car.
Some help before i go to the AC guy will be much appreciated.
Thanks!
