second that!
Just to prove that Gas is not the way forward, look up the statics regarding the number of countries running their vehicles on gas. Only Pakistan tops the list followed by other sub-continent nations & Argentina. Developed countries are moving towards fuel cell, hybrids & electric cars & we are stuck with gas, lpg & petrol.
now people asking for SOLUTIONS.
1) better transportation system will decrease the consumption & costs (already happening in Lahore, hope others will follow up)
2) Govt should charge less duty on fuel efficient cars such as hybrids.
3) Use bike if you find it hard to maintain your cars, use car only when it is necessary, conserve your fuel the way you conserve electricity to reduce your monthly bills (which is way way expensive now & people are living on it aren't they?)
4) CNG should only be given to public transportation which is regulated by the government.
Gas to our industries will provide way more jobs, increase productivity hence exports, & encourage more investments. CNG sector can never provide as much benefit as we can get out of our industries.
Dams, wind mills, nuclear power plants, gas pipelines etc will all take many years as these are long term measures & need BILLIONS of dollars worth of investment! All we can do now is to work on short term measures.
P.S I don't blame public for anything since Govt is the culprit for making stupendous policies but we can manage things on our part can't we?
