Aoa all,
Hope you are all having a splendid Ramadan.
Like to share with you an incident that occurred with me yesterday.I took out my sparingly used 4th car "my lovely cuore" after a long parking of 1.5 months (her usual routine is a 40 km drive per month on Sundays).Shes a pampered automatic transmission car with full Toyota service history. 36000 genuine kms till date with proof. Rarely any complaints since we rarely use her (except for the hefty insurance i pay for her annually )
This time around something rather disturbing happened. I took her out for a 1.5hr drive from nipa to tariq road. (Roads were pretty quite at that time right after iftar to isha)....suddenly
1-A weird screeching sound started coming from the engine bay area , which increased when i floor it, however died out on its own from time to time.I assumed its probably the ac belt..Drove around to Dolmen Mall with no problem and parked here there.
2-The lights, the ac , the dashboard lights all started to diminish slowly. Luckily i was not far from home, I turned off the lights and ac and drove back home and parked her. This is on my way back home near national stadium.
My assumption is that
the alternator/dynamo belt requires replacement.
The alternator/dynamo requires replacement.
I recall when i bought her in 2006 a the lights faded out when i was in the road however no screeching sound... towed her to toyota and all it took was a small wire (assumed to have been cut from a rats teeth/ we have some roaming in my house). Till now no problem occurred.
I bet toyota is going charge a hefty bill for replacement.... lets see will take her tomorrow for a diagnosis. Any suggestions for the same may please be shared.
