Absolutely correct.
For all practical purposes it's only Torque that matters.
I also like 1ZZ for its immense torque...drive a manual 1.8 civic and despite the fact that its torque figure is identical to 1ZZ on paper, you'll find yourself hunting for 2nd from 3rd and 1st from 2nd every single time you slow down and need to accelerate again. It never happens with 1ZZ. It would never stall even if you pull it in 3rd at 20km/h. Once however the honda gets past 3000 r.p.m, its a different story.
