Yesterday i went to bilal gunj to buy a D16 for my EK .... i saw everyone claiming that their engine is japanese ...... I have heard that only japanese engines are good and there are many people selling singaporian/australian engines claiming them as japanese. so my question is, how do i differentiate japanese engines from singaporian/australian engines? are there any specific codes for jdm engines? Thank you.
For your Honda Japanese domestic engines will have alphabet after engine code e.g D15B and European engines would have a engine code like D15B2. Number after alphabet usually indicates non Japanese engine.
thank you brother!
You say D16. If its JDM, it will be "D16A" precisely. Anything else it will be non-JDM. Another 1600cc engine from Japan is "ZC".
yeah ZC is DOHC i guess..
I have a question to all the Guru's how do u check the engine,i mean do you do a compression test, hook up to a battery, check mileage ,look at the valves or just listen to our desi ustaad who usually says "sir piece bara tite eh"
both SOHC & DOHC. In ZC engine, DOHC is non vtec, while SOHC is vtec.
Though i have only experienced once buying an engine, but the easiest/convenient way of checking is looking at the condition of the valves and oil. Then of any oil leakages. That kind of gives a rough picture of how well (or badly) the engine has been maintained.
