Salaam guyz.
Uh, I was just reading somewhere that the engine of a car shouldnt idle in cold weather. Actually, Im in ISB and winter stops by once a year unlike KHI, lol. So, in the morning, I idle the engine for 5-7 mins cuz the temp.meter is down below " C ". So I have been told the car wont perform and respond as sharply as compared with a warmed up engine.
So, question is, should I idle the engine to bring the mark 30 percent up from " C " on the meter, or just press the pedal to the metal as usual when Im seated in the cockpit of a nice car with a warmed up engine, ready for something...
Yeah, give yourso called expert advise :-)
old cars need to be idled, modern cars don't need ot be idled but, you should drive them gently till they are within their ideal operating temperaure.
see the thread under " my father is wrong "
EFI vehicles don't need to be idled. It only wastes fuel. Older cars need some idling to warm up the engine and stop it from stalling when you drive away.
wslm, most cars manufacturers now a days tell to start ur engine and keep it idle for about 10-20sec, without putting ur foot on the paddle to heat up the engine.in auto choke engines just let the engine run at its own for about 10-20 sec and u r ready to go. do not push the engine hard until it reaches its optimum temperature.
@HumanGenius.................
Your question is valid, and we would like to comment, but what is this at the end
"Yeah, give yourso called expert advise :-);-)"
Dont you have any manners?
@Strom.................Portage1...............
Havnt you both noticed it?
in my city 03,,,,,,there are no temp guage,,,,but a light which is ON when the engine is cold,,,,,,and turns off when the temp is normal,,,,,,and it is written in the manual not to drive the car when the light is on

Idleing is required for proper circulation of Lubricant through all tiny parts & vessels of engine.
