Dear sir being associated with car industry and R&D I assure that its not the matter of affordability, it is the matter of profit margins. Unbiased support of Gov and lack of competetion. In China the cheapest car is Geely 1000cc which will cost you Rs 300K (Eqv Chinese cuurency). It is EFI, power windows, power streering, central locking, alloy rims, dry battery with 5 yr warranty, nylon belted radial, ABS, leather seats, crystal lights(as they are commonly called in Pak), four seat belts with inertia reels, leather covered steering wheel, metalic paint, coloured bumpers, power colored mirrors, colored side moldings, colored mud flaps. See www.geely.com. In Pakistan we buy alto for 4+ lacks and what we get. Why gov does not allow imports from China and Korea. The local manufactures will be sweeped.
The question of going to authorized dealers! I bought a new Margala in 1997. It had a faulty A/C, dead battery, music system was not working with all four speakers, when I changed the tyres to radial one of the rim had a hole in it with a mark from factory saying defective. I went to Central motors the dealers. They said for battery please go to battery dealers some where on Liaqat road. For A/C please go to Chaudhry motors in Pir Wadahi, for rim it is ok for tube tyres so we can't do anything. For music system dealer is on Muree Rd. They did not have a tool to open the star shaped nut on timing adjuster of Margalla. I complained to customer support of Suzuki Co and within three days I recieve a call from owner of Central motos Mr Sohail (If my memory is correct to recall his name) to get everything corrected from them. A retired PAF officer was there workshop manger and he did arrange everything for me in thier workshop. Still Central motors won the best dealership award from suzuki company in those yrs. These authorise dealers are not trust wothy.
