Congratulations on getting your car fixed. The peace of mind is priceless.
Please tell me one more thing, I dont know is thermostat valve is installed in my car or not. I have never got it checked. Should I get it in working order immidiately and should I get my radiator fan auto? what are the pros and cons?
:o OMG, haven't you checked out the thread about direct radiator fan connection? People over there are fighting over their lives (and elaborating important points in the process).
If a thermostat is installed in your car, it will prevent water from circulating in the radiator when the engine is not that hot (for example, in the morning when the car has just been started). At this point, you should not see any movement in the coolant in the radiator when you rev the engine. On the other hand, if there's no thermostat, then coolant would circulate in the radiator even if the engine is cold. So coolant movement in the radiator early in the morning right after ignition can provide you with your answer.
BTW, you SHOULD use automatic fan, especially in winter since a direct fan (and a bypassed thermostat) slows the process of the engine reaching the optimum operating temperature.
