Sorry for the long wait, here are some precious words.
Toyota Engines that can fit in to 91 - 96 and up daihatsu charades.
- 4AGE w/gearbox - 1600cc n/a
- 4AGZE w/gearbox - 1600cc superchaged
- 4EFE w/gearbox - 1300cc n/a or turbo
- 5EFE w/gearbox - 1500cc n/a
- 4A [H] w/gearbox - 1600cc na..
All 4AGx engines with gearbox, will require cutting of the chassis.
Parts Required.
1. Shifter cables, and shifter.
2. clutch, and throttle cables.
3. 4A axles tripod w/ CV end.
4. AFM/ or Map sensor with Associated ECU.
5. Wireloom.
6. Bigger double core radiator.[preferably].
7. New radiator, and heater hoses.
8. Modification to the A/C lines / rerouted.
9. mounting of various components dep or ECU type.
10. Cam side and, rear engine mount, including gearbox mount.
Fabrication, and modification.
1. Shifter tunnel modification, to fit new Toyota cable shifter and cables.
2. Cable length to be modified.
3.right wheel well has to be massaged in, to fit engine mount.
4. Chassis cut for clearance.
5. Gearbox, and side Engine mount fabricated, as well as rear engine mount.
Installation
Clutch cable and Throttle cable to be cut to length, and fitted.
Wire loom spliced, and wiring done for ECU.
Important things to install are wiring for reverse light, and fuel pump etc.. as well as ignition, and sensors.
including O2 sensor, map/maf sensor, TPS, Knock, and speed sensors.
BTW.. did I mention the battery is tight fit.
Ok
4E, 5E, and 4A [H] Engines with gearbox, will require modifications to the right wheel well. These Engines have the same foot print, but Taller deck height, and different bore and stoke.
Parts Required.
1. Shifter cables, and shifter.
2. clutch, and throttle cables.
3. Related Engine [w/4E, 4A [H], or 5E] axles tripod w/ CV end.
4. AFM/ or Map sensor with Associated ECU.
5. Wireloom.
6. Bigger double core radiator.[preferably].
7. New radiator, and heater hoses.

The battery is also a tight fit, but can be located alot easier than the 4AGxx.
Necessary for all engines list. Remember where I said that you will need the axles and cv and Tripod of the engine being installed?
Well you are going to need it, and also the original axles for the engine you had originally.
Just as with the engine installation. you are going to have to do some measurements.
You are going to have to cut daihatsu's axles [outer spline end], and weld it onto the Toyota axle.
prefereable a machine shop, that is willing to shamfer the ends, MIG weld, as well as balance the shaft.
Update
Alternative: Utilize the Toyota Axles and Tripod, and then Machine out the Daihatsu Hub assembley to fit the Toyota outer Tripod.
At this point it's bolt up Time.
