    Default Nissan Sunny...is ir good?

I'm in market for a brand new sedan. I need to use this car as a family car and the the running of the new car would be low because I mostly use my mehran for day to day stuff. I checked out the prices of nissan sunny 1.6L M/T and it looks good on paper. On the other hand I'm thinking of city as well. Corolla XLI is my last option (it is more expensive). I plan to use this car more than 7 years. So is Nissan sunny a good buy?

if u can afford its maintenance n its parts r not easily available in market.....n resale is also very very low ...

if u can avoid these things then buy it ......other wise on the other hand city is not a bad option at all....

if i were u i would definitely go fr new city.............

The only things attracting me towards sunny are its price, capacity (it looks bigger than city) and all Japanese parts. As I said that I plan to keep this car for a long time (me and my family are not in a habit of changing cars every 3-4 years and keep them as long as they are not giving constant trouble). As far as resale is considered, I know it is low, but I think city's resale is not that good as well (although somewhat higher than sunny). Also maintenance is a point of concern, but I don't know how do the prices of parts of sunny compare to that of GENUINE honda or corolla.

As per your requirements I would suggest you to get your hands on a brand new sunny.
Here is a little review of the mentioned car. I have a sunny with me since 2007 and I have completed almost 110k kms without changing anything except oils, fluids, filters. The car has a very solid body,it has good looks aswell (some people may disagree). The car is stable on high speeds, has good brakes, nice comfortable cabin, mileage of approx 14km/l in city and around 16+km/l on highways, the ac is chilling and a better built quality than city or corolla!

Parts availability is not an issue. Genuine oil filter costs 750/- and Air Filter for 1550/-.Brake pads for around 5k and brake shoe for 4k. On the other hand, genuine body parts cost the same as that of corolla or city. There are taiwanese body parts available in the market which may cost 50% less then the genuine ones.

The resale of Nissan Sunny is low all over Pakistan. There are only two options while buying a used sunny. 1) Extremely well maintained. 2) In very bad condition.
Well maintained cars can fetch good money even after using them for 4~5 years,so if you are buying a sunny, make sure you keep it mint. You wont have a problem in selling your car ..

Since you plan to keep it for a long period of time then I would say you to go for it.
Its a nice car with build quality far better than locally assembeled sedans.
    The finishing is great too.
Only drawbacks are the low resale and a bit expensive spares.
One of the most difficult things in the world is to know how to do something, and to watch without comment, somebody else do it incorrectly.

My assistant usually travel by road to queta and other cities in paskistan and he uses Corrolla, liana, civics etc but as per his saying the sunny drive has no match with any other cars in pakistan even it is very much stable on the speed of 180KM/H. I will not deny the performance of Civic but you know the price in more high.

it is very sad that we only rely on corrollas and other craps cars and get worry about maintanence but at the end the nissan and mitsubishi are the best at all.

    Resale?
To all those who say sunny has a bad resale: I had two sunnys(N16) back in 2010,one is still with me the other was with my grandpa,I remember my grandpa bought it for around 12lacks in 2004,his car was exceptionally well maintained and he had hired a guy to clean it daily including waxing 3 times a week! It was literally a brand new car even with an odometer reading of nearly 80k kms. He sold the car for 1150! Now thats not bad re-sale value at all!

Ok...I talked with my mechanic...he was telling me quite a different story. According to him, the suspension of Sunny is weak and shock absorbers are needed to be replaced soon. Is there any kind of problem? Also, where in Karachi can I get one?

One more thing...most of the people here own 1300 cc models. As they have been discontinued, the only option left for me is 1600cc. Now 1600cc engine will definitely consume more petrol as compared to 1300cc corolla or city.

There are no such suspension issues with the car but let me tell you one thing, the ground clearance is low compared to a corolla or city.

Do you intend using it for city driving or long routes? I think there wont be much difference in the consumption,a max of 2km. The 1300cc feels under powered because of the power to weight ratio.

I would seriously recommend you to buy a sunny, you wont regret it.

At the end of the day,its your money and your choice! Happy purchasing

Had he bought a Civic VTi Oriel for the same price in 2004, and kept it with same care (literally brand new car in your words), it would've easily fetched him 1.35M now.

Now that's the concept of good resale in Pakistan.
