Default Fuel consumption in Daihastu Move 2010

I read all debate about fuel consumption. I bought one above said last year in Oct 2012. It is good, comfortable car. Had to Lahore in it with my driver and some goods. It gave only 13 km p lt.

When I bought and registered it in my name it had been only 20000 km driven. I had been told that it runs more then 20 km per lt. That was not the case. Then I got changed plugs( not cheap) and air filter. Then it drove 16 km per lt. I was told there are fixed filters in it and if we remove them then it can run more.

The strange thing is that I checked on Google about consumption and I got this reply. What is true, I do not know. Please come with some good advise.

" Japanese small car manufacturer Daihatsu has managed to triumph over its much larger cousin Toyota as far as non-hybrid passenger cars on the Japanese market are concerned. The company?s small car, called the Move, burns as little as 3.7 liters of fuel every 100 kilometers (63 mpg), while Toyota only manages 3.77 l/100 km with its redesigned Vitz, which will be released later this month. "

    • Cleans Air filter every week(japanese air filter)
    • light foot on Race paddle
    • avoid hard breaking
    • Fuel from Total or PSO Company operated pumps
    • push the car on minimum time of gear shifting
    • using Havoline Fully Synthetic 5w-30(recommended by Daihatsu Mira)
    • Denso spark plugs (Irridium available at Toyota Ravi)
    • For Long route Wheel alignment and balancing should be perfect
    • Hankook Tyres 165/65 13R

    @ALL ,

I think you all are forgetting the most important part when it comes to 660 cc cars and that is Transmission.

The one's which are Four Forward despite being auto tranny give excellent fuel economy(17-18 in city , 20-22 in long) and the ones which are Three forward give you less (15-16 in city and 17-18 in long).

Now i dunt think that Alto comes in with four forward , though some Mazda Carol and Nissan Pino variants come , and also Daihatsu Mira

smaller the engine, higher the revs on speeds averaging from 50 to 90 kmph hence the consumption automatically increases.these engines will perform their best when kept between 35-55kmph at max on higher gears.

I have had a Kie and 3 Altos during last 5 years. 660cc cars are not economical at all. Compared to 660cc cars 1000cc JDM cars are much economical because of their better power to weight ratio.

Default Mileage reduces after changing Plugs, air filter, engine oil

I am using alto 660cc , 2004 model , manual gear, I recently purchased this car.
In the first week it gave me 18km/L mileage on long rout without ac. In city it was doing 16.5km/L
When i changed its oil, filter, air filter and replaced the old plugs with new denso plugs. its mileage reduces from 16.5 to 15km/L in city driving.
I m surprised why this happened, instead of increasing mileage it reduces. I refueled from the same pump where from i used to.
    any idea why it happened?????

I've a 2007 daihatsu move with 4 speed AT..and I'm getting an average of 16-17 km/liter with a/c..It's driven occasionally at a speed of 100-120km/hr when the roads are clear
the maximum I've got was 24km/l and that was in winter when I drove at a speed between 60-80km/hr.

Kei cars were never made for economy , the category was made when japanese car sales went down due to economy crisis n they wanted to make such cars that everyone could afford them , taxes were low no parking space requirements n other things
    I Love JDM Cars . . .

Air Filter is normal, mechanic suggested me to use Zic hiflo 20W 50. I don't know which oil grade was previously used. Old plugs was in very bad condition, and giving me 16.5km/L average, I think Meh1 is right, its dense oil , i read in forum for Japanies car 5w 30 is recommended.I am confused now
    1. Should i replace 20w 50 oil with 5w 30????
    2. If i do so , will it be suitable in summer as well????? need quick rply
    regards

    Use 5w30
Change it and never use thick oils in these cars like 20w50 etc

    Default Honda Zest

My Honda Zest 2009 (import 2012) model gives me 12-13 km/l avg on full time AC in local and 15 km/l avg in long route @ 100 km/h speed with full time AC. I don't know whether its consumption is good or not because it is my first time to have 660cc Japanese Car. Thanks
