Default Any Suggestions for replacing 04 Vitz

    AoA guys,

I have a 2004 Vitz that I am looking to change as its been with me for more than 5 years now with very little problems througout.

Being a highly satisfied Vitz owner, choosing a different car is a really difficult decision and would really appreciate if pakwheels members can help me out with your suggestions/advice.

    The options I have searched so far include;

    1. Toyota IST - Highly recommended by a friend for the drive but not recommended due to low resale value. Haven't seen many on the roads as well compared with Vitz, passo, Mira etc.

    2. Toyota Passo - for resale value and Cost. I dont really like the shape but a dealer recommended this as a good alternative to Vitz.

    3. Honda City (Automatic) - A different car, easy to maintain, availability of parts as compared with imported cars

Kindly share your comments, experiences and suggestions for the above options or for a better alternative.

Try driving a Honda City, you wont like it after driving your Vitz, either upgrade to a newer Vitz.
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

Buying Passo after Vitz is not a sane decision. I made this mistake once. End up getting rid of Passo immediately and bought another Vitz.
Go for Belta ---1300cc--- only, though you have to add another 2 to 2.5 lacs, or go for vario 2005/6.

Thank you guys for your valuable suggestions. I checked out Passo and don't think that is what I am looking for.
I like newer Vits but my mechanic mentioned that the part for newer Vitz are much more expensive than the one I have.
Belta seems a good option, thank you.

    Anyone had experience driving/owning IST?

When you bought your Vitz, i guess people wud have had told you the same, With time each and every part, New and used are easily avalible malaysian, Thai and Japanese parts are avalible at different and reasonable prices. Dont worry about spares, Its a Toyota u wud never face parts issues.

God forbid you dont find any thing, its can be imported over night from Dubai.

IST has a very smooth drive, and enough power.. its got the 1.3L engine, same in Corolla X (as per my understanding)...

The car is fast enough for a hatch, but the piece I had kept(was actually a friend's) had a bad petrol avg.. plus soon after its tranny malfunctioned and it was stalled for a good 4 months before parts were available..

Btw, at wht price r u getting a fresh imp IST??

@ NOneed2speedd: lol quite true.. the car hasn't let me down once in 5 years...

@ chinyoti: Yup, everyone warned not to buy an imported car due to parts, resale etc. Even I was skeptical but then my brother said what to do with resale, we should enjoy the drive and have a safer car cause thats what we are paying for.. so we got this car and never regretted...

@ ivtec3: I checked IST and prices vary. Bit on higher end as there are not many buyers for this car. Got rates from a friend who imports cars and i it costs approx 11-13 Lacs min depending on model and grade.
