The so called buyers you had for the car were not actually buyers they were just trying to hit you with the most lowball price. They are a waste of time.
a vehicle having a CPLC clearance even involving theft and recovery is accepted as CLEAN. If someone tries to tell you otherwise then they are the same cartoons who are looking for a "jenyan pent piece of $chitt" to peddle for a few bucks aka low life used car brokers.
I have bought and sold such cars with no issues, but I tell everything upfront. If they dont like it I ask them do not contact me with super low offers because I wont sell. The only case of me being super stuck was with a car that had no record in CPLC but had some sort of police case issued, this was partly my mistake because this car was not transferred yet (open letter) and the previous owner was stiffed of some money from the "low life used car broker", The owners ID was disputed and required his "personal appearance" to clear the matter.
I learnt that day that do not buy a car unless you can actually meet the original owner, if its on open letter 50% chance exists you might end up in a headache.
