Default Important info for Daihatsu Mira (2007-12) buyers

For Daihatsu Mira buyers, who want to know more about the specifications and trim levels of this car, I have compiled a list of specifications translated from Japanese to English. This information has been taken from Daihatsu Japan website and the Japanese PDFs were translated into English using Google translate.

Also attached are chassis codes to help in identification of the different grades and some information about the CVT gearbox in X Limited and Mira Custom models.

Also included is a partial translation of the user manual.

I hope this will be helpful for people who are looking forward to buying a Daihatsu Mira.

I wanted to put up this info, But thanks to white angel he already did it.

    Some easy summary is

Chasis # L285S-xxxxxxxx (is four wheel drive)
    Chasis # L275S-xxxxxxxx (is 2 wheel drive)

    L (grade), Basic package
    -is 3 gear AT
-No side power windows and black tinted glasses
    -Meter doesnt show D4

    X (Grade) is Loaded package

-4 Gear AT (15% less power and less fuel economy then CVT tranny)
-Side mirrors are powered and matching
-black rear glass key less entry
-Automatic A/C controls are standard (mind you its not climate control just automatic fancy buttons (hence auction sheet always says AC and not AAC)
    -Meter goes like (p/r/n/d4/3/2)

XL/Custom (grades) are CVT transmissions (easy way to look is the meter is different and has dash gears). (claimed fuel economy of 24km/L)

-A bit uper grade with a slightly diferent dash board and dash board gear.
-Meters in CVT transmission cars are (PRNDSB)

L/X/XL/Custom are avalible in manual tranny as well, That is suppose to be the best fuel efficient.

Btw im not sure about cars with L275V chasis code
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

    @chinyoti
Thanks for adding the bits that were missing from my post. It will be of great help to Mira buyers.

I guess you have changed your mind about the Mira and are looking for a Passo. But Mira suits my requirements since it is only used to pick and drop kids from school and driven by my wife mostly and it fits easily in the car porch.

Just one more thing I would like to add about the Mira is the fuel efficiency rating. If you look at the environmental specifications, the fuel consumption figures are according to the older 10.15 Japanese standard. That standard has been superseded by JC08 standards which are more rigorous and designed to closely match real world driving conditions. Typically, you can expect a 10-15% reduction in fuel efficiency if you go by the newer JC08 standard which comes into effect in 2015.

^ if i find one i 7ish im still looking for a Mira X since i started from 650 looking for a Coure,

Passo, a gud car isnt less then 8.25 (basic spec) that means were talking about 9 lack with insurance and registration. 650-900 is a big margin. So i if i have to buy a Mira for 800 ish, Then Passo seems much more logical, Mira is only better then local mehran/Alto/Coure,

But the list goes on, Passo is better then Mira, Vitz is better then Passo, One can also find a Honda City in that range, Personaly i prefer small tension free cars, And to me Passo looks big.
But i have to set a boudary or else sky is the limit.

Lets see where does the camel sits , Baqi ani woe hai jo Naseeb mei hogi may it be a mehran or a mercedece So im just looking what may i find.

    Adding,
So you mean to say one can accept and its safe to say it gives / should give (15-20 km/L) in normal conditions?

I also started looking for a Coure automatic, then dumped the idea because they discontinued production and the automatic is a gas guzzler. Key reason for choosing a small car was limited space in the car porch, otherwise I would have gone ahead with a Vitz.

I think it would be safe to assume that a 2007 Mira will do at least 15km/l as long as its not a 3 speed automatic.

The only thing that bothers me with the Mira CVT gearbox is the lag. It takes a second or so to respond after you press the accelerator. Initial pick-up is slow with a light pedal, but if you floor the pedal, the car surges and it accelerates well, enough to outrun most small cars... but obviously at the expense of fuel consumption.

I haven't done the fuel consumption calculations on my Mira Custom but in time I will make a detailed post regarding this. My current driving route is mostly highway and with a light pedal and speed between 70-80km/hr the fuel consumption on the meter varies between 27-32km/ltr. Looks optimistic, however I am waiting for the tank to empty before I make any conclusions about fuel consumption. So until then stay tuned.

i came across a XL mira AXS registered it had all the features one could imagine ina Markx probably, it even had EPS and lights in sunvisors, they turned on when you open them. etc etc etc... But the guy was asking 8 lacks full nd final with rims and tiress, But next to it was a 2011 13k driven Coure,

Im not sure if other Miras do the same, That particular car didnt reved as expected i was accelerating it and it felt very much (guti hue) Seemed roughly driven, All monograms were changed, Bumpers were brushed too.

As far as I know all Miras have EPS. But the sun visor light is new to me. It's not even listed in the equipment specifications for Japanese Miras. Could be a European model.

    dear whiteangel and chinyoti
as i look at it u guys seems to be the masters of mira chemistry... on the other hand i need some clarifications on the subject...so plz enlighten
after reading some articles online just like ur posts, my perspectives have changed a bit meanz iv got confused or may be i was wrong earlier, though its the most basic knowledge that i guess i m lacking about cars.
anyways i m gonna get a daihatsu mira these days like in a month time positively so i m doing my home work.
    plz resolve my queries
    1. which version gives better mileage? automatic or manual transmission?
    2. what major difference is caused by a 4wd vs 2wd?
    3. from what i read mira X seemed to be a better option...it it?
    4. does cvt comes only with mira custom?
    5. is it true that the most basic version; the manual L version gives a reasonable mileage like 20km/l?
also iv heard that when any car arrives at khi port, the dealers/importers gets it meter reading reversed i-e from 110,000 to 40000?

sorry for the numb dumb Qs but its better to ask then to remain blind. thanks

I purchased mira 2011 three weeks ago, i came to know that while reversing its passenger side mirror is not retracting downward. I know that it is a basic feature of mira since 2007 model.
Plz guide me whether there is any fuse not working or this feature is no more available in 2011 model.

    I shall be obliged,

I am not aware if this feature is available in Mira. Never tried it. Will try it today. Try leaving the mirror adjustment button to the left or right, then try reversing the car to see if the mirror retracts.

The feature might be there in a particular model or an after market upgrade in Japan since its a used car
I had seen 20-30 Mira's never came across such a feature.

The top of the line I saw had traction, vsc, lights in sunvisors and some other goodies

I faced the same issue in my Move 2007. Infact I didn't knew that this feature existed. By luck I had to remove the battery for couple of hours for cleaning the engine and when I Connected the battery this feature started working. I assumed that removing the battery sort of reset ECU to all the default factory settings. You can try this.
