    Default city idsi buying suggestions

    assalam o alaikom dear members

i intend to buy honda city idsi manual transmission only (facelifted model) and second option is eagle eyes civic. i know there is no comparison between the two. but i m more inclined towards city because i may get a clean bumper to bumper genuine ride easily than to find a clean civic and that too at appropriate price. so i just want to ask following questions so any expert shed some light and ease out my reluctance to go for city

    1. ride quality - i mean road grip factor, including side rolling and pleasure to drive
    2. level of comfort both in city driving and on long routes
    3. what would be an average fuel consumption (petrol, not interested in cng) on long and in city driving
    4. i drive with care so any chance of getting rattling and squeaking noises inside the cabin after a while
    5. i have gone through many forums and found some threads stating that car has got poor brakes and has tendency to skid easily
    6. i have heard that usually its a reliable car and its does not pop out issues and faults oftenly and if kept under strict maintenance schedule, it proves to be a reliable companion
    7. the silver garnish inside cabin near gear lever and door trims, does it fade out easily. if kept with care even then does it fade out?
    8. i suppose there is no foot rest in city

m a civic guy, previously owned civic 99 n then civic 2002, so shall i feel a downgrade in drive and all related stuff once switching to city??

IDSi is quite too old now, no doubt city is s great car but Civic has got some standardised quality drive. But high consumption of fuel too at the other end.

    1. ride quality is good.road grip is avg.its a family sedan, not a type R civic
    2. comfort level is pretty good.diven 8 hours flat without rest as such without back ache
    3. in khi u should get 12km probably.in isb people get 15-16 even easilly
    4. dash is not of high quality but nothing to worry about.
    5. 2006 n above are better in brakes.use the right tyres and tyre pressure.not so bad.
    6. its a trouble free car.i know people who drove 2 lacs without major repairs and with factory coolant
    7. yes thats a minus point.get it painted or get a sticker type thing on it etc
    8. no foot rest

Laini hai to itna socho mat
Life is short and very unpredictable just like a Quarter mile .....

    Walikum Assalam
if you are concerned about fuel economy then City
if you want good handling and power then Civic but you have to compromise on fuel economy
Civic has more comfort and road grip while City lacks both (my opinion)
The interior is very fragile and tends to crack easily and the silver garnish fades but you can repaint them no biggie
City has a pretty cramped engine bay and getting work done is a headache

Brother you should consider Vitz 2005-06 or Passo 2007-08 its better.

You may also consider a 1998 JDM Corolla or 2005 Altis.

However, if you are a Honda fan City 2006 is a good car it has better aerodynamics and packaging than Civic 2002-04, more interior room, smaller size and parking / turning area, more efficient & advance L series engines than ancient D series in Civic.

Plus the City has excellent trunk room and parts are much cheaper.

EPS and alternator are also much better than 2002-04 Civic in which alternator fails and power steering motor leaks oil after every 5-6 years.

The best thing is fuel economy which is roughly 50% more than Civic.

A nice 2006-07 Vario with less than 100,000 km and petrol driven will cost you around 780K

Steermatic will also cost the same.

M/T will cost 800K in genuine condition.
All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.
