Default WTB a new car. Your suggestions and inputs welcome.

This is the car i'm thinking of replacing ,my WagonR Stingray of almost two year vintage. I like the car a lot but i like change too. My initial idea was to replace this car with a more powerful hatch but then i've always had an eye for the Mahindra Thar and maybe a compact SUV like the Terrano but to complicate things even further Mahindra will be launching a butch compact SUV in September that i want to wait for before i make a final decision. Below after pic of my current ride are my numbered choices and i've made it a bit confusing for myself as i can't make up my mind so looking for suggestions from as many sources. Thanks in advance...

my current city car ride . i paid 5.2lacs on-road when it was all new but now you can get 30-40000 in discount off the rack. i can sell it for 3.75lacs thru an used car dealer or trade it in for less. i dislike dealer trade in offers.

if you can afford then why not get a compact SUV. it looks more stylish and must be easy to handle the tough roads too. But if you have a tight budget dont burden yourself, a good honda jazz has a great shape looks cool.

good suggestion. i like the Terrano a lot, drives like a car yet has the torque and SUV presence, easy to parallel park. i am intrigued by the TUV300 so i'm gonna wait for the car to show up before i make a final decision.i can stretch the budget upto 12lacs.

i like the interior of the new Ford Aspire compact sedan but the shape doesn't cut it for me. if Ford had launched the all new Figo hatch first i would have definitely included the car on my list. i don't know of they will release the new Figo within a month of the Aspire.

Just dont get the mahindra scorpio it looks weird. Yeah, go for Terrano coz you like it too. All other hatchbacks are equally good but the looks on the Terrano beats them all. Ford aspire seems to be a decent sedan. You are lucky living in india you have so much to choose from.

i really like the Terrano but the choices are many. i saw a black Hyundai Creta while driving home friday evening and liked it a lot as i've been seeing white and red Cretas mostly and didn't find appealing.i think i'll do a test drive tomorrow. i like the Suzuki S-Cross which comes with 2 engines a 1300 and 1600cc. the 1.3liter is cheaper and within budget but doesn't pack the 1.6 liter's punch so i finally crossed it out of my 'maybe' list. if it is a hatchback then it has to be Jazz. atleast i made my mind up on that one, mostly. what i'm looking to buy is a second/city car either hatch or compact SUV easy to park etc.

Creta in black and within budget. i will test drive this weekend and report...

sneak peak of the all new Mahindra TUV300 compact SUV to launch September 10th. i could pimp it out and still have money left over is what i hear about the pricing which is expected to start at 6.5lac and end at 8.5lac for the fully loaded version. i like what i see....the design work was done in collaboration with Pininfarina!!!

When is the yaris expected? But with a mini suv in consideration hatches don't come up.

I guess Nissan looks and feels rigid. I feel tatas/mahindra build quality is a but compromised at least looks. But ur the better judge.

PS : y is it going so soon? Do u still have the sx4? Been off for a while not following what ur driving
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

The Terrano is nice. easy to drive , excellent visibility, funky looks and build quality is excellent, top of my list..no Yaris, Vios coming next year all new Etios will come. Toyota has an 'xclusive exition' Etios sedan for 7.28lacs ex-showroom but i know that that the Etios siblings will be replaced by newer by 2017 so not considering. re: TATA/Mahindra your observation correct earlier but now these companies are going world class with inputs from Jag/LR for TATA and Ssangyong for Mahindra both wholly owned entities. TATA's new HEXA MPV can compete anywhere and will debut later this year, it was showcased at Geneva auto show. lot of improvement in design and quality. TATA is launching an all new hatchback named 'Kite' in a few months that is part of it's new generation of cars to hit the world market and so on. more confusion for new car buyers...

p.s. SX4 is gone, Nano is gone too. it's no use keeping cars for more than a couple of years here. the longer you keep a car you'll get nothin' for it. will update my garage photos here after i finally decide on the wagonr replacement...

I think India is missing on Mazda brand. The new CX3 is beautiful and technologically advanced while CX5 already taking away CRV and RAV4 sales. Is there a MPV type model from Honda ?

Ford is in India so Mazda should be here too , i concur with you. lovely cars and they're not quirky anymore. the Ford Classic is a Mazda under the skin, though. re: Honda, sells the CR-V and Mobilio here, BR-V is coming along with new Civic which skipped a gen.

Mazda have multiplied their sales many times in last 5 years here in United States.. Mazda new 3 and 6 sedans aa well as 3 ,5 and 7 Crossovers/ SUV should land in India.

I have read some blogs that Mazda is trying to start assembly in India as well as export of cars. Mazda commercial division is already operating there.

Not sure if Subaru can be a hit.. They are beautiful cars as well.

Ford is making India one of it's main export hubs. very soon many Ford cars sold in Australia will be made here and to other global markets currently going on. the EcoSport which debuted here last year will be sold stateside soon and Chennai will be the main plant producing cars for the US market. So, i won't be surprised if Mazda cars are also produced here in the near future.Mazda is quite popular with the commercial operators and they have that network they can build on.

i got a firm grip on the financials of the Nissan Terrano petrol today and i couldn't resist taking a pic of the 'Groove' edition on display at my local dealership. tomorrow i plan to tackle the money part of the Jazz and i20 elite and i hope september deals have been received at the dealerships or i'll have to wait some more...

the Terrano is the most car-like compact SUV i know of..
