My new Honda City

well altis is my top priority too...but it is well ahead in price as well....PLUS....the fuel economy of city is unmatched

Brother Altis has a better engine and it comes with 6 speed manual .... which contributes to efficient fuel burning ... Altis give 15-17 km/l on highways which may be not be equal to City but comparable !

City is 17-19 km/h on highways

ppl talk a lot abt the stiff ride of this car...i mean they say its not comfortable and very hard suspension.....wat are ur comments abt it comparing it with a new corolla ?

I have recently bought new Honda City 2011 and replaced the stock Eurostar tyres with Michelin Energy tyres. I am also having Toyota Corolla Altis 2007 and Suzuki Khyber 2000.
Let me throw some light on suspension of these three cars.
I agree that Corolla has softer suspension than Honda City. But it doesn't mean that Honda City is having a hard, uncomfortable suspension. Infact I have really liked it's suspension after replacing its stock 175/65/15 Eurostar tyres with Michelin Energy 195/65/15 tyres. It gives you so much sporty feel and handling confidence while overtaking and turning at relatively high speeds.
In Corolla if you turn it at high speed, it become lower from one side and hence the passengers feel some kind of opposing force, just like G-force in case of airplanes.
If the road is under construction, broken or having pit holes, then Corolla will give you comfortable ride as compared to Honda City. If I am passing through such road on Honda City, then I have to lower its speed to a minimum level, but if I am on Corolla, I do not need to lower the speed to the minimum level. Due to its softer suspension you will feel less bumps.
But if the road has large humps, and the road itself is smooth and not broken then Honda City gives you very joyfull ride. You can speed your City on such roads, the car will not loose its handling capabilities, and the wheels would not touch the car's body due to a relatively stiff suspension.
One such road is from McDonald F10 Islamabad to Blue Area. Its has a lot of large humps and I enjoy driving my City on that road.
Khyber suspension is real hard, but I have changed a lot of things in its suspension over the period of 11 years, which can be the reason of such bumpy and hard suspension.

Drive honda city on Rawal road and corolla.
Feels much difference.
Driving city, It doest feel that car is loosing control at that road while going through sharp turns.
But if i drive my corolla. i never drive at high speed on rawal road.

Although i dont have city or corolla, but we had to catch somebody in hot pursuit at night, so i drove corolla 2010 XLi (with hooter and revolving light, white corolla) and went to Sargodha at 1.30 pm night. I had to drive at 110+ on rough road, I didnt noticed the speed first because i didnt felt any jumps, nor vibration, Air conditioner was on, i had 3 more men from force sitting in rear fully armed, my inspector told me that i was at 130 on sargodha road.

So I agree, corolla is good. We have XLi and GLi in law enforcement. May be i may go for city or corolla in couple of months. I need to ask, what is the maximum speed of Corolla GLi 1.6 automatic and ALTIS 1.6 manual. Di anybody found 1.6L corolla still underpowered.?

Corolla is very comfortable on rough roads and durable with excellent trunk space.

Sir, I have City 2011 but I have test driven Altis 2011 (but not tested its limits) ... If you see some of the threads on PW , somebody mentioned theoretical limits for 5th Gear of Altis is 197kph (it has 6 fwd gears) .... That is all I have

Dear Friends

Honda city has a remarkable design. I am sending you a link of its engine details all please read it. Secondly, the fuel tank has been placed under the front seats and a space has been taken out in trunk, but, the biggest advantage is the low center of gravity, when the tank has fuel, on turns the fuel sways on either sides due to grvity and its momentum usualy pushes normal cars outwards, but in city, as the fuel is in the center so the G pull tends to work on minimum, (it turns rather into O axis point, or fulcrum point, just similar to the center axis of any tire, or crank shaft) therefore there is not mush firce left in the rear end to drift the car outwards. I hope i am able to make you understand.
