don't know what to comment... went to my denter for the estimate and he recommended me to live with it and do a full paint job rather than a few touchups. I haven't consulted any other denter as yet but the one i visited gave me an estimate of 35,000/- for a full bake paint job including the replacement of both the bumpers (front & rear efi cultus style), & crystal head lamps. my current priority is to fix the clutch plate which is quite essential now and i have already spent a couple of thousands on the brakes & alignment this month.. so lets see later on after a few months i might go for a paint job because i prefer driving in a nicely repainted car rather than "original condition"..

i will post the details of the work done on brakes.. which include lathing both the rear drums, new wheel cylinders & new brake shoes...

Very sorry for your loss bro...sadistic kids these days...Their parents dont care and leave them on the streets hence they have fun by ruining other peoples property... Thank God you dont believe in the "original condition" philosophy.. a car should look good and not all scratched up on the pretext of maintaining originality.. If a good job is done, i guess it will be difficult for people to detect it in the first place..

thanks for the sympathies akbar well you are right & i agree with u, i don't wana drive a car with rust n scratches just because it will give me good resale.. huh.. though MashaAllah my car is almost 9 years old now and i have taken utmost care of it so far, so in future i will surely do the best in order to retain its originality (not by letting people call it a car in "original condition", but by properly maintaining it so, be it a repaint). I am satisfied with the quality of work of my denter, as i mentioned earlier that the car was hit in 2007 and damage was caused on bonnet which was bent from the middle-right but one can hardly notice whether the car has been hit or not. So i believe he can do the job very well, may seem a bit expensive but its not a matter of saving a couple of thousands here..

I was busy so yet unable to post the details of brakes etc, probably on sunday i will..

^^ one should keep a car to enjoy himself, not in fear if the upcoming future owner wont like it :). If they dont like it, simply show them the door. Beggars cant be choosers these days (unfortunate buyers) since a new cultus costs 0.9 million bucks.

Usman I understand ur feelings.
I had some thing more worst den dis wid my Margalla. My car was standing outside my house & wen I woke up I saw my RED Margalla turned into white. Some &%%*@!& dropped some kind of paint on the roof of my ride. It took arnd 2-3 days to remove dat but d car was not looking gud as it was previous.

these are some of the details of the work done last week:

i replaced both the wheel cylinders, one of them was leaking while the mechanic recommended to change both of them. These are Taiwan made & each costed Rs. 400/- (i.e. 800/- for pair).. i got both the rear drums lathed & got a pair of new rear brake pads. All the work costed Rs. 2200/- including labour.

^^ since your car is petrol driven, you don't have to be worried about the air filter CNG guys need the air filters frequent than anything else by the way CNG is Rs.48/kg now and im thinking to switch back to petrol, just have to make a few adjustments to the carburetor as the car is set to be driven on CNG.

here is some detail about the wheel cylinders for those who don't know... it would be helpful.

The Wheel Cylinder:

A wheel cylinder is a component in a drum brake system. It is located in each wheel and is usually at the top, above the shoes. Its responsibility is to exert force onto the shoes so they can contact the drum and stop the vehicle with friction. What connects these wheel cylinders to the shoes are usually small rods shaped like a birds beak. It is very similar to a master cylinder and functions in pretty much the same way, consisting of just a simple little plunger on the inside. On older vehicles these will begin to leak and hinder the performance of the brakes, but are normally inexpensive and easy to replace. The wheel cylinder consists of a cylinder that has two pistons, one on each side. Each piston has a rubber seal and a shaft that connects the piston with a brake shoe. When brake pressure is applied, the pistons are forced out pushing the shoes into contact with the drum. Wheel cylinders must be rebuilt or replaced if they show signs of leaking.

my denter offered me to change the color of my car to whatever color i like i thought for a while n then decided NO aqua green is cool n unique
