There is a general opinion that 2C is very old and rubbish. Yes it is. But the question is that why it is still used in Pakistan even in new cars.
The diesel engines of all newer cars in Japan (Post 2007), Europe (Post 2005) and USA (Ost 2007) are now designed for ULSC (Ultra Low Sulphur Content) which is 15 ppm (Parts Per Million. The Diesel fuel in Pakistan at the most is LSC (Low Sulphur Content) ie 500 ppm. If LSC diesel is used in newer engines it will ruin them within first 50 km and that too permanently. Ask Stavic owners in Pakistan that what happens to thier injectors in the first week. Then Company replaced them free of charge and instead of Ceramic injectors thay got same as that of 2C.
Maintenace of 2C is also a myth.
As per Book
Oil 5000k
Oil Filter 10000 km
Air Filter 24000 km
Diesel FIlter 12000 km
If every thing is changed on time and from 3S Toyota dealership the cost comes out to be 0.70 Rs per KM. Current DIesel Price gives about 4km / Litre comsumption in cith driving.
As per a very conservative estimate a 2.0D will give slightly less than Rs 5 / Km runing cost.
At idle RPM it is noisey.
At high speeds around 120 it is very good far better than XLi/GLi or city. Dont know about Altis. But I am sure ALtis will be better.
Not much of a drag racer, but good family sedan. Godo for motorways travel.
Ps: I have 2.OD Saloon.Thats why I think my knowledge is authentic.
In short Altis is better but running / maintainence is expensive.
