So i recently painted my camry engine bay cover. Just a little something on the side to divert myself from head high in books. I thought it would take me around 3-4 hours, but ended up taking around 12-14hrs due to mistakes and me not liking how it came out the first three times.
Before any paint job started
Took it my friend's house who had a tad bit moer experience than me in painting. Plus he had few sanding blocks/papers. Had to sand it down pretty good. This was the hardest part. Took a good 45 minutes to sand down reall well. Next was put down a layer of base coat.
This is the paint I used. It was gun metal gray (the color of the car) but for some reason, it was not sticking to the cover. I could not spray it evenly and it would leave blotches of paint. I though high heat clear coat would do the job but it made it worse. So I went back and bought textured black paint and sanded the cover again. Again same results. So had to wet sand it the next time and then it came out perfect.
Finally getting somewhere.
Final Product!
