Hi everyone!I am using PTCL broadband 1 Mbps connection (Wired) and it is working pretty good. Today, while sitting in my bedroom, I switched on my laptop's WIFI button and to my surprise I found two 802.11g networks. I connected with them easily and start surfing the net. The speed was good and signal strength was excellent. Now I want to ask a question. Can the other person who is the owner of the network can access personal data in my laptop? Or he/she is notified when I am connected to that network? Thanks.
It depends on file sharing setup on your computer. Owner of other network can see that you are connected if he/she looks at the connection screen in their AP. They will also know your MAC address.
You are stealing his bandwidth then y ur concerned with if he can steal something from u or not
He can access your PC and can even know that somebody else is using his WiFi, but doing that is not easy
You are doing and unethical thing
Here in the US in large metro areas, identity thieves have open WiFi networks to lure in unsuspected persons.
LMAO its not a big deal
Whats funny is that us Pakistanis take material theft a very serious thing, but theft such as this is ignored..
I don't think average joe can access your computer through that..Keep leeching it
na it doesnt happen when u share the folder with other only that time he can transfer dataif hes a hacker than he will jojo phip 2.0 software to hack ur pc through wi fi
Yup for people like you, its not a big deal
WellStop that now !!why do it, when you have your own?

@wrangler79: I think you need to open up the Quran and read Surah 5 and verse 38.
