Good day Gents.
I have had a history of having a few good car stereo systems some many years ago. At one point in time, I had 3 Rockford Fosgate 12 inch woofers and 1 15 inch JBL sub installed. But this was many moons ago, you know, remember the Pioneer 6986 speakers and those Pioneer Pre head units that displayed fish (dolphins) and the solar sytem, that was the time.
I must admit that I have lost my references from those days and my desire to have my car's boot go ting ting have faded. I am now older, and cannot have the low end I used to have since my 4 year old is often in the car with me.
I have a Mitsubishi Shogun with stock speakers, 2 mids in the front, 2 tweeters in the front, and standard 3 ways in the rear. A couple of days ago I bought myself a Pioneer DEH-4050ub pre head unit. They don't make them like the used to in my opinion, horrible menus, I think they're ugly too, and don't have the depth in sound the older units used to have, but it is what it is, and I'm not changing the head unit.
Primarily, I want good sound, I don't care for bass much, but I have an old Boss amp lying around, I think it is a 4 channel amp, not the best, but it held a couple of my old woofers fine. I want to know if you guys think hooking it up to my standard and original speakers in my Shogun will make any difference to fidelity. I want to know if my speakers will fry or not. I've never experimented with stock speakers, only ever had after market speakers on an amp, but since I have this lying around, wouldn't mind the extra effort.
What do you all think?
