ISLAMABAD, April 26: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet on Tuesday allowed import of second-hand trucks, buses and tractors at lower import duties to overcome transportation shortages in the country.
Finance Secretary Dr Waqar Masood Khan told journalists after the meeting that the government had already allowed import of second-hand cars of up to five years old. The duties on such imports are calculated at 60 per cent of the depreciated value of cars.
He said on the pattern of second-hand car imports, the ECC allowed import of commercial trucks of three years old, while buses and tractors of five year age would be allowed to be imported.
