read it carefully since Corolla CNG is on roads. Expect CNG HONDA by April '12.
Nov. 2007 Toyota Japan & Indus decided to TEST Corollas for the CNG. Infact few of their managers have CNG corollas under observation for performance & head seems to be most affected section. (in summer) May 2008 few modified Brand News Corollas (different head design) cars with CNG kits from 2 known manufacturers LR & BRC were installed and dispatched to KNOWN dealerships for TEST & Evaluation with strict maintenance schedule according to Owner's manual. They choose Summers to push the engine to limits that is when the temperatures are at peak and people tend to use max of aircon in the cars.
assigned Toyota workshops also put under observation 8 selected CNG vehicles of METRO CABs from Karachi & Lahore - Those were the vehicles with 'emirates' logo.
CNG modified test vehicles did constant run for Toyota between Lahore Peshawer using GT road & motorway, between Karachi & Sukker, Multan & Lahore, accumulated in total of 150,000 KM in less then a year.
results were encouraging and submitted to Toyota HQ for technical approvals to modifications engine bay & suspension.
Launching was decided with the shape change. Come 2010 shape changed & 2011 CNG Corolla is on road.
LR was selected based on the 'roadside tech skill, population in terms of market share and parts available across country at remote places as Toba Lalek Singh in District Kharian.
AND The C&F price negotiated between 2 manufacturers, LR kits are direct import of Indus. Apparently BRC lost the deal based on the unit population., but they have not given up.
Toyota tested average per full tank (with aircon - 125- 135 Km (urban run with avg speed 45km/hr) 145 -150 on highways
average will vary from station to station & time of gas fill.
For a while I believe Toyota Corolla will lead the market share in terms of unit sales & likely to enhance the price very soon.
