I dont know whether the person saying that has any basis for that, or he was just portraying our mentality.
In car manufacturing industry the shelf life of tyres is considered as 5 to 6 years. They follow first in fiest out method for tyre issuance to production line.
As long as the tyre is new there is no problem if the mfg date is even 2 years old. But you can ask dealer to charge the price of 2 years back.
