most of you guys posting in this thread obviously dont know what a tune-up is...who the hell does a tune-up on a brand new car with so few km on the motor.
i will address both of ur questions separately.
Oil Change:
Only in Pakistan, ppl go and change the car's oil after 1000KMs. Dealers do this cuz they dont offer any service or maintenance for a longer period of time. Makes sense because there is only a one or two year warranty on the car as opposed to atleast three or five years everywhere else in the world.
You can go and change the oil after 10000Kms..it wont harm ur car at all but after that...regular interval for the oil and oil filter change should be atleast 4000Kms. The lesser the better because all of the dust u have in the air and on the roads.
You should follow Suzuki's instructions on what grade oil to use. The brand is your option.
Engine Tune-Up:
There is no absolute definition of what a tune-up involves. There are several operating systems in the car and they all have to be in tune to best and optimal performance. A typical engine tune-up includes the following. I atleast i do it this way.
- New spark plugs
- New spark plug wires (sometimes optional)
- New Distributor Cap & Rotor
- Checkup of your grounds (they have to be clean)
- Battery Voltage and Charge state
- Correction of any fault codes (if u have any)
- Fuel and Air Filter, PCV and Breather Valve
- Fluid Top up
- Ignition timing. idle speed.
Now...u dont need to do all this on a new vehicle. You must follow what is the factory recommended schedule is and dont listen to any dealer, service guy or mechanic if they tell you otherwise.
