I had my car's axle (exterior component) replaced, but after work was done the ABS light remainef on. The suspension guy did everything he could but it still wont work.
Of course, ABS light on means ABS is not functional. Red flag.
Kept on driving carefully for few months without ABS. Consulted some mechanics but they couldnt fix it. Apparently the ABS sensor on the wheel mounts wasnt installed properly after the suspension work.
Landed at Suzuki 3S almost 1 year later. Those guys took out the left side sensor, repaired it, and fixed the problem. Didnt charge me either...pretty decent service. Impressed. Also replaced the brake pads, so my brakes were awesome!
However, I noted that whenever I drove my left tyre over a slope while turning sharply, like in my car porch, the ABS light came back. It went off after driving on the road, sometimes after many days.
The left ABS Sensor was positional. My diagnosis.
So I came up with this solution quite spontaneously. It works for me 90% of the times in first attempt:
Ignition off. Car of flat surface with steering in neutral position.
Press the brakes firmly for 10 seconds. Dont take the foot of the brakes till the end of this exercise.
Turn ignition on. Keep pressing the brake for another 10 seconds.
Start the engine. Keep pressing the brake for another 10 seconds.
Take foot off the brakes. ABS light should turn off within 1-2 minutes.
Sometimes the light doesnt turn off immediately, but after driving the car a couple of minuted.
Hope this helps.
Please note this is applicable only when your ABS hardware is intact. If the light remains on, contact your workshop.
