HYDERABAD: The automobile sector is providing job opportunities to more than 0.3 million people, said President Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed.
Addressing a ceremony here, he said the motorcycle had become a public transport, providing an inexpensive mode of transportation for small family and people of rural areas. He said the automobile industry was growing fast, adding the introduction of CNG auto rickshaw “is the need of the hour, which will control environment degradation in the country.”
He said he would talk to the Central Board of Revenue on the issue of sales tax on the motorcycle sector as rise in taxes would affect the industry.
Muhammad Saeed further said mega projects in the country were being completed on time due to proper collection and payment of taxes by businessmen, adding the government surpassed tax collection target in 2005-06.
President Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) Masood Pervez, Senior Vice President Azizuddin Arain and others were also present.
