Ormara, a small fishing village about half way between Karachi and Gawadar is the sight of this years Gawadar Rally.
Here are some pictures from my drive and from the event. I did not stay there to witness the start and the end of the rally, so I am not sure who won.
I do know that the track was 200 kilometer long and extremely treacherous. Even the experienced drivers said that it was not just a back breaker but also a car breaker.
Three 4x4s were damaged just during the practice run. God knows how many more were damaged today during the actual run.
There were Evolutions, Grand Cruisers, Wranglers, Prado, Safaris, Jmnys, Vitars and others.
The drive to Ormara is beautiful. The Makran coast is flawless and the scenery breath taking.
Total Drive time: Karachi to Ormara about 4 hours.
Distance: 400 Kilometers.
Average speed on the highway: 130 Kilometer (my landy went as high has 140 on downhill, but on a flat road it could do only 130).
Here are pictures....
Came across this Lizard as we passed Vinar.
This is the Hingol River..It was running normal when I passed by it on Sunday but on Monday it was flowing full flow due to over night rains..
