So for a long time i had some seals leaked around my engine and I had no clue because they were wearing off one by one and I thought engine is done but later on I got it done with a good mechanic and it came out as gear box leakage and tappet was leak. Since my engine bay attracted alot of dirt and dust i badly needed to get it cleaned. And here is the result.
What I did:
Bought all purpose cleaner and engine degreaser both. Sprayed around all of the engine bay with protection on all kind of plastic sensor plugs n all and get it pressure washed on corners and non sensitive parts. And in the end conditioned the rubber and plastic parts with dashboard spray.
P.S I learnt from here that not to pressure wash your engine, which I did not but the walls and engine room body and not to spray any kind of petrol or oil as it attracts lots of dust.
Here is the result.
Though this was my first time that I cleaned my engine bay in this detail but still I would like to share the procedure, my process can be wrong though in many cases so I beg your pardon in advance and would appreciate your suggestions and advice.
Procedure:
1. What you need:
1- Turtle Presoak (from Saca at Rimpa plaza because it was the only place I could find Turtle Presoak or I have non branded All Purpose cleaner bought from some other place for around 350-400/ltr, let me know if you want some as it served the purpose too but IMO Presoak will be better but its 1300-1400/ltr)
2- Foaming Engine Degreaser Spray Can
3- Dashboard Protectant/Conditioner/Spray or whatever it is called, I used some cheap spray costed me Rs.100 and used the whole bottle like 100ml I think and then gave it finishing touch with Formula One Protectant.
4- Some Plastic to protect you whole Tappet plus plug wholes, if the water got into those holes then you know what can happen You always use protection and don't get me wrong Your car wont start You can see that the surroundings of coils is still dirty, and don't forget to protect the wires and plastic plugs because these cleaners have some amount of PH.
5- Pressure Washer - Car Service Station - Yourself Inspecting there in front.
2. What to do?
Dilute the Allpurpose cleaner/Presoak in the water in prescribed ratio and Spray it all over through air pump they have, just let him know how do you want it and he will do it himself through water hose bottle attached or through air pressure hose then wait for 5 minutes and spray foaming engine degreaser on engine and hidden parts of the engine and the bay. Let it remain for 10-15 minutes or while he washes the car body (do not use it on the body please, though you can use it in 1:80 ratio but do not take risk) and then in the end ask him to wash your engine and tell him not to pressure wash the plastic parts from near, just the engine bay's walls and solid parts, and remaining parts from some distance like 3-4 ft but make sure chemical is washed properly.
I used the same solution under the carriage and on the wheels but this time it was more concentrated. Get it washed properly too.
In the end when your engine bay has been dried (rubber parts and plastic parts to be precise) then spray the dashboard protectant on them.
DO NOT get oil or WD40 or other lubricant sprayed on engine bay or engine after the wash.
6- That's it!
