Dear Friends,My question might seem a little off to the forum topics but i hope you all can help me put. There are many lakes in Northern areas that have clear water like nalter lakes. Someone told me that if the water is clear and you can see the stones and base of the lake never assume that the lake's depth is very less and jump into it for swimming. It is said that in water the objects get magnified and seems closer than they actually are. Does this imply to lakes?
We best is to ask a local .... and main problem is cold water in these lakes... if you are not an expert swimmer, I would advise take a life jacket...
as far as the lakes in Northern Areas are concerned the depth is not the main issue...despite the fact that the lakes are definitly very deep....... the main concern that takes swimming out of the question is the water temperature..... cold water causes hypothermia and may result in drowning..... its never advised to swim in any lake of Northern area.... some still water lakes like phandar lake have relatively warmer water and ppl do swim there but along the shore only.....
Thank you Asif Bhai..we're leaving for gilgit tomorrow early morning InshaAllah. We have cut short our plan to only gilgit and hunza.. any advice from your side??? Off course i will not swim in any lake now
If you are going to Gilgit then you may visit 4 lakes of Naltar and also do travel in between Giligit & Phander.
i hope u have planned ur trip..... if u havnt planned it well plz do so.... aaj kal har banda ja raha but many r just ignorant and they end being khawar rather than enjoying..........
so c ur maps and plan well..........
