KARACHI: All 121 stolen vehicles have been seized by the Anti-Violence Crime Cell (AVCC) and Anti Car-Lifting Cell (ACLC) Police in separate raids from different parts of the city.
“AVCC has arrested four car lifters and a gang involved in car theft,” said SSP AVCC Mir Hussain Lehri at a press conference Thursday evening.
After receiving a secret tip-off, the AVCC police raided an office named ‘Master Mind Corporation’ and arrested Shehzad Kazmi, Imran Khan and Imran alias Farhan. Ahmed. Ali Agha from Quetta was arrested after police investigations.
Police seized 34 cars and 44 motorcycles from different parts of the city. Among them were latest models, which were advertised in newspapers for rental by multinational companies. The group was conducting its business under two conditions: that car owners must be told the tracker password, and that the car should be used outside the city. The men usually signed 11-month agreements with about Rs 30,000 per month for a car. They sold a car to Agha in Balochistan, for anywhere between Rs 150,000 to 250,000. Lehri added that in the two months the group was active, it seized 34 cars, and has been sold 32. Similarly, the ACLC police have arrested 13 car-lifters, seized 43 cars and 44 motorcycles in last three days. The arrested men have been identified as Mukhtar Korai, Imran Lasi, Abdul Ghafoor Khoso, Shah Khalid, Rashid, Bashir Ahmed, Haris, Ghulam Mustafa Chana, Ashraf, Azmat, Zulfiqar Abbasi, Anwar and Shoib.
