On 28th december 2008, i had to make a trip to Faisdalabad in an emergency. Petrol/cng was not available in cities so i had to find a way to get fuel out of my father's car and put it in the spectra.
Taking a green plate car out was a risk in itself so we avoided it.
i tried to find the drain nut underneath the car but no luck. It does not exist in this model. I tried to ciphen the pipe which supplies fuel to engine but no luck because the fuel pump fires fuel only when engine is cranking.
Finally we came with an ingenious solution with the help of a fellow pakwheeler named Ghuncha and i used the electric fuel pump salvaged from one of my ther DIY's here is the link
https://www.pakwheels.com/forumreply_az_TopicID!53909~ForumID!27~pw.html
we opened up the fuel pump assembly on top of the fuel tank, put in a pipe in the tank
We connected the pipe to the fuel pump motor and the outer pipe was put into the can. The motor was throwing some fuel out to make the cooling mechanism work inside so we placed a household kitchen utensil to collect that fuel as well it collected a good half leter
Power supply was provided to the motor through a step down transformer (courtessy of Ghuncha)
It emptied 25 lietrs in 3 to 4 mnutes but the time wasted in prevous attempts was like 2 hours
And before anyone blames me for abusing the privilige of an official vehicle. i can try and justfy by reminding about the situation on and after december 27 incidents in the country. It was a last resort option we opted for because travel was absolutely mandatory.
I hope you guys will focus on the DIY and technical aspect of it
