LONDON - A teenage actor who appears in the next Harry Potter film was stabbed to death trying to protect his younger brother from a knife-wielding man in London early Saturday.
Robert Knox, 18, appears alongside Daniel Radcliffe in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Relatives said his role as Marcus Belby in the film, due for release in November, was set to launch his acting career.
Knox was apparently killed while trying to save his 16-year-old brother, Jamie, from a man armed with two knives. The man began attacking drinkers outside a bar next to a railway station in Sidcup, southeast London.
Witnesses said the attacker had earlier been thrown out by bouncers, but returned with several friends.
Knox's distraught mother Sally rushed to the scene moments after her son's death to find the sidewalk covered in blood. A number of others were hurt, including one young man who was stabbed twice in the neck.
Witness Russell Wood said the attacker, waving what appeared to be two kitchen knives, "stabbed people here, there and everywhere."
A police spokesman said a 21-year-old man had been arrested "on suspicion of murder."
