Sorry i am hearing Core Solo for the first time. I just read a little about it and i have come to know of this:
It features only one active core. This allows Intel to sell dies that have a manufacturing defect in one but not both of the cores[citation needed]. Depending on demand, Intel may also simply disable one of the cores to sell the chip at the Core Solo price -- this requires less effort than launching and maintaining a separate line of CPUs that physically only have one core."
So does that mean this processor has one defected core like probably during production or due to usage by a user and instead of fixing it, they disabled it? And probably hence the lower price than a Mobile processor?
If this is better than Pentium M then i really might be interested in it. Someone please share his/her knowledge regarding Core Solo processors and pin point the main difference.
Thank you.
