Default Swap options for mitsubishi galant 2004

    HI guys,

I am looking for a swap in my mitsubishi galant 2004 model.
I bought it a year ago with GDI 2.4L (4G63) swapped in it. The engine was not in the best of state and after spending amount on overhauling the engine, it gave up on me on motorway near Fateh Jhang. Took the car to pindi and swapped 4G93 motor in it.
Current state is that the motor is running good but not exactly what i wanted out of it. I am thinking of swapping the same again.

Now coming to my real issue: Should i swap any complete good setup from Toyotas / Hondas or should i again look for a good mitsubishi engine? I have been looking for a mitsu engine but havent found any in Lahore in good nick. My mechanic has posted an option of 4g94 but havent seen the setup myself.

I was wondering if any of the jz series from toyota can be swapped, keeping the driveability and safety as a main concern along with power.

Thanking you guys in advance and do let me know if there is any good setup available out there..

I did a lot of such swaps as the stupid idiot GDI engines are a pain to own in Pakistan, The best option is to get a Right side mount 4G63 SOHC engine with Galant wiring harness.

You can also choose to have a 6A12 or 6A13 V6 engines - they bolt up perfectly in there, make sure to get complete wiring harness for Galant too - the HVAC touch screen, air bag, auto trans etc is wired through it. The bigger engines have more HD gearboxes (if automatic). About 8 or 10 years ago these engine swaps would be Rs 200,000 or Rs 250,000/- turn key solution with everything working like it should and everything in place like factory original parts.

    Xulfiqar,

Its a pleasure to hear from you and i remember your comments that GDIs are a royal PITA.
Unfortunately, i have not been able to track any of the engines you specified in Lahore or Pindi.
Have not seen any 6A12 or 6A13 but a 4G94 is available in Lahore. One more thing is that i want to swap complete setup along with gear.
Apparently, toyotas / honda engines are totally out of scope as per your recommendations. Would appreciate your help.

ask a scrap dealer to get one for you from somewhere outside Pakistan, you will have to get a complete wiring harness yourself though, all of this is quite a tall order.

If you choose to install any other toyota/honda/nissan etc in it. the car will become a basket case and eventually will become scrap metal.

Thanks Capsat but as Xulfiqar already clarified, mine is of a different shape. Currently, it has all the goodies of VR-4 (apart from the engine )
but by any chance, if you find any half cut of 6A12 or 6A13, do let me know. Appreciated.

It must be the Deewan imported one I saw one white Galant in KHI with 6A12 engine and 6 years later came to know that it was swapped by @Xulfiqar and his friend in KHI.

No one keeps that narrow angle V6 anymore and its pain in neck of even the best swap mechanics (like all mitsubishi GDI engines). They say it heats up pretty badly.

I would also prefer a 4G63 although I have also seen people swapping 2.0C and 3ZZ-FE A/T Corolla engine for economy no idea about installation techniques.

    Bradpit:
Any chances of a complete 4g63 in Karachi with auto gear? Would really appreciate your help.

The temperature issue of the 6A12 is due to air pockets in the cooling system, it requires very slow bleeding procedure like the mercedes V6 engines (literally takes overnight to bleed properly). Some engines came with bleed nipples for this purpose, most did not. btw the 6A12 was not GDI.

Then our weird people who think that the half speed cooling fan is "faalt" - its not, it will kick to high speed as needed.

    Guys,

Have not been able to track any 4G63 of a nose cut yet.
Have searched web and found few options in japan used cars section. I guess i am left with the option of buying a car there, cut it and then get it imported. Any one out there to help me out with the process?
