LAHORE:Pakistan will participate in international car racing competitions, Chaudhry Shujat Hussain, the Pakistan Muslim League president, told reporters in a ceremony on Sunday.
“Pakistan will apply for membership in the International Conference of Sports Car Club and present sport cars in the Paris Car Racing Club,” he said, adding that after getting license it would first compete in the novice and then the senior races.
He announced that the car finalised by Pakistan for the race would be put on display in a ceremony with President Pervez Musharraf in chair by the end of February. Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, the Punjab chief minister, who was also present at the ceremony, said that it would be an honour for Pakistan to participate in international competitions. He asked his government to build a racing track in Lahore and said that an international marathon in the city had earned the country a good name.
