Dear,
Again i think you are wrong, Honda civic is still the best selling compact car because the top 2 cars Toyota camry and nissan altima both are mid size cars, so civic is still the best selling compact car:). And the best selling passenger car for the last 10 years in USA is toyota camry. What about canada where new civic is the best selling car? If you check the link in my above post you can see a growth of +22 % over the last year which are raw facts and contradict consumer reports and "loss of share" which may be correct initially because there was also a production issue due to earthquake effect in 2011.The average per month in 2010 of honda civic sales was 22000 cars which this year has rose to 27000 showing consumer liking. I think people have not listened to the reports of "consumer reports(a magazine)".
Please note that just one magazine's report can't be base of verdict of one car.Just check this post by another magazine which has links to other reviews and shows the other side of story also:

Cars.com came to Civic's defense
writing that "we recommend it for numerous reasons including its terrific mileage, comfortable cabin, top safety scores, high resale value and a long track record of reliability." It picked nits as well, such as with the interior, but wrote: "While it may have flaws, the 2012 Honda Civic is still one of the best cars in its class and should be on any short list for compact-car shoppers."
