Hi everyone,
This is just a humble advice to you and neone else who is willing to go to IU. I dont know if you know these details about it but I know some cos i have studied there. These are some really important things that they do not mention neither on their website nor in the brochure.
They have 3 semesters and each costs somewhere around 55k-65k (variable depending on the number of courses you have taken) and this was for BS in computer science. BBA will naturally cost u more than that. But this is just to give u a fair estmate of the amount u will be paying. (Now i think is more than that).
The facilities are not extraordinary compared to the amount you are paying. There is a gymnasium and swimming pool, a couple of basketball courts etc. but usually you wont get a chance to participate in these since the course material covered will not enable you to do much alongside. At my time in 2002-2003, we had a few exceptional teachers they left already and by the time we left, hardly n e good one was there.
Some good things: The best resource at Iqra is its library which is equipped with almost all current books something hardly found anywhere else. One more thing is the 24 hr internet access in the labs the labs were occupied most of the time but in the breaks I used to sit in labs for internet surfing.
As for whether you want to pursue your studies from there I dont mind cos its your life and u should decide urself but i wanted to bring some facts about Iqra in front of you. I would strongly recommend you look for other options like IBA, Karachi University, NED, or even Virtual University, if you really want to study and at the same time save your money. If its just for poondi and wasting money, then go ahead you will have tons of opportunities for it for sure throughout your stay at IU the management is fond of arranging concerts etc. but for anything related to study they feel sick.
When I was student at IU, nobody told me that they had three semesters and it cost so much after including all the stupid misc. charges otherwise I would have never admitted there. These are some of the things I know about Iqra University and I wanted to bring it up front so that others are made aware of it and may be saved before its too late. After studying there, one thing that I have understood is that IU is not a place to study, its a money machine.
A brother.
