Idling the Cars

For those who don't familiar with the word "idling", is starting your car and giving it few minutes to warm up the engine before your start driving.

Normally on idling, when the "heat needle" of the car comes up (upto the indicative temp. line) or in JDMs the heat light turns off, we start driving immediately.

But I felt that after these lights or needles shows that we are ready to go, GIVE YOUR CAR AN EXTRA MINUTE OR TWO, especially in winters and let the engine gets more warm up. Ofcoarse it will consume just a bit more fuel, but after that when you drive, you feel your car more comfortable & joyful with good average.
Am giving this tip absolutely "free". lol.

guess what, i already gone through the topics "idling" and "anti-idling" comprehensively on wiki.
lets forget what they have mentioned because in Pak. the air that we breath in is not so pure like those countries.
but lets see if this real practice (of idling couple of more min) brings good or no effect at all.

before starting car always check engine oil levels and water in radiator fill it if needed, and also check beneath the surface of car some times radiator engine leak the water and oils so in this case you shouldn't not drive the vehicle

well these checking points are pretty common for PDMs. Even we have to check more carefully for the "new pdm cars". lol.
if one have good JDM who is nicely maintained with correct combination of fluids, then you can have these things checked once or twice in a week. it will be fine.

However, i guess that the tip what i've given (to give your car a 1 or 2 min. more for idling), perhpas less than 1% people have ever noticed it. no?

people who drive heavy vehicles does that all the time with smaller cars as well idling engine

I've noticed it because heavy vehicles requires 5 minutes of engine idling to warm and to have full air pressures in break cylinders and some other oil points to become up

Here's a free tip from my side - if you park your car outside, especially in winters, since you know that in winters there is a lot of fog and the car is usually covered with dew, and sometimes the weather is so cold you don't want to touch the handles to open the door, and since the thermostat valve is disconnected usually, the heater doesn't work much either. Before you start a car in those conditions, make sure you go around the car and check that the tyres are not stolen overnight.

lol everytime i text i always steer to the left idk why. sometimes i get close to the end of the road. dangerous stuff!

On- topic- however i let my car idle until the temp. needle reaches "C".

Some people just start the car for less than a min. and start driving. Just like bikes. And feel that after driving couple of km they feel that car has become smoother because engine has reached to its optimum temperatire. But infact if they do idling + a few moments more as per my tip, then they can feel the driving smoothness right after when car start moving.
Bit logical and very easy to follow, if somebody keep his egos away while reading this.

Owners manual of City idsi 2005 model clearly states that cold idling a car only wastes fuel n time... car comes to optimal temperature within a min if u drive it right after starting it.. I dont have the manual with me otherwise I would have attached a snap ot it.

but that one minute is real important infact.
Engine should warm up well before driving. Otherwise it will work like slow poison for the engine's life.
Perhaps honda mentioned to atleast idle it for one min before driving. But it can be reconfirmed from the manual only.

The post of PDM requiring daily check up is funny - no cars require that now, it has been somehow a tradition in Pakistan to open the stupid effing radiator cap to check the "null ka paani" in it. There is a reason the expansion bottle is transparent,

Many Folks when start car in the morning, and most of them either push the accelerator again & again to make it warm 'or' will start driving after just couple of seconds from start. Both of these them bring bad results for Engines, but later.

Ideology for increasing RPMs (pushing the accelerator) is, to let the engine oil quickly circulate and lubricate each & every part of the engine. But these folk don't know that if they will NOT Push the accelerator so hard or again & again, even then the oil will lubricate each & every part of the engine. But it depends which kind of oils is being used.

Ok one more time,

Because every engine oil has its specific time to reach every part of engine & lubricate it, since cold start.
