    Default Daewoo Racer/Cielo Fan Club

    Dear All,

I am an owner of Daewoo Racer since 1995. It has proven to be a very comfortable and economical car throughout this period. It used to give an average of 13Km/L within city and ~15Km/L on long drives. Here are some pictures:

I would recommend buying this car who want a better car at low budgets!

Any member having used a Daewoo car must share their experience....(y)

Default Need Suggestion About Purchasing Daewoo

    Hi All,

After reading your great support on DFC, I am interested to buy a Daewoo (1997-1998 Registered) but some of my family members and friends are suffered with Daewoo Phobia, they are suggesting me to go with Margalla (1997 or 1998). I have reviewed both cars and are here are my findings:

    Daewoo:
1500CC Powerfull Engine (5 Forward Tranmission).
Solid Body and good if its in original condition.
    Better Fuel Consumption.
I am not sure about its braking system.
Car is a bit cheaper than margalla as well as its an older model as compared to Margalla.
A bit expensive spares & Limited Mechanics.

    Margalla:
1300CC Engine with good fuel economy.
    Better Suspension system.
Better Interior (Plus or GLX Models).
    Better Handling & Braking System.
Specialized Suzuki's "Khar Khar" sound from the body & Dashboard.
Cheaper spares and more mechanics are available to fix it anywhere.

Since you guys are experts of Daewoo, so I will need your advise on these issues:

    1. I normally drive out of city (RWP - LHR etc), so if car stops during the way, which car will be better as compared to reliability and mechanics support on highways or motorway?

    2. I currently own a Khyber and the vibration of its dashboard frustrates me, so about the issue of vibrations & Khar Khar sound in Daewoo.

    3. Can you guys tell me about the comparison of pick-ups of both cars (Since daewoo has a stronger engine so there is a chance that its pick will be a bit higher).

    4. How about the brakes of Daewoo, I have seen the issues with the stock brakes in the pages of DFC.

    5. How about the fuel economy of both cars.

    6. Any idea of monthly maintainence requirement of both cars?, normally atleast one of my Sunday in a month is spent on the routine chechup of my current car and average monthly maintenance is about 2k.

I am not concerned with the purchase price or resale price, I am looking for a stable and reliable car which I drive without any problem

Anyother suggestions would be highly apreciated, looking forward for your feedback.

margalla is very congested and uncomfortable instead daewoo is very spacious it has bigger trunk than margalla and more comfortable than margalla according to ur situation as u want car for long routes daewoo will be better but on the motor way will have to use highway recovery service for daewoo acording to me, lets wait for experts suggestions

    @Saad
first of all welcome to DFC , The maintance cost of both cars depend on their current condition. i.e in 300 k budget u can get excellent condition Daewoo but average condition margalla , so maintance cost for Daewoo will be lesser than margalla due to its superior condition.
no doubt every local mechanic can play with suzuki and expert Daewoo mechanics r limited in nos , and also suzuki parts are very easily available as compare to daewoo and may be cheaper than daewoo parts. but in bigger cities like lhr/rwp/isb there is no problem for parts and mechanics.
its engine sound is different than khyber and margalla both sounds like chik chik chik chik , but daewoo's engine sound is like shooon shooon (i like it )
there is no match of engines powers daewoo vs margalla. u can compare daewoo's engine with 98-2000 civic. i have no experience of daewoo original braking system coz i have Nissan braking system in my car , it works fine.
If you want to have a car for long period than Daewoo will be best choice. its soft type suspension will give u comfortable drive specially in long routes.

Daewoo's exterior look is also better than margalla specially in metallic colors and margalla has plain colors only.

@saad welcome bro adding more to the above mentioned details.. Daewoo is much poweful then margalla.. Before daewoo i had margalla ( sedan japanes 1000cc ) and you wont bleave that daewoo consumption is far better then margalla ( and it was 1000 cc too pakistanis are 1300cc ).

one thing more ( margalla = cultus and cultus =~ khyber )
so you are again gona buy a khyber with a trunk :p
nothing special in margalla.. believe us give a try to daewoo.. Yad rakho ga...

    @ all

i am sharing my recent experience with you guys.

i was travelling from karachi to mirpurkhas, this is my second drive to interior sindh on my ride first was very enjoyable and this one is very horrible.

reached on destination with ease and traveled many destinations there. but when we are coming back from mirpurkhas it was running very fine with load on it, and we traveled according to the schedule from mirpurkhas to hyderabad, we stayed a bit in cool weather. we stopped near tool plaza hyderabad for refreshment.

after taking refreshment we begin our journey to Karachi, we only traveled 2 kilometers and car stopped.
i tried many times but no use. then on pushing it starts and i feel some smoke coming out from bonnet, then i stopped it, after this car never start again, until mechanic came.

when mechanic came he touched the car and car starts immediatly but mechanic told that ke" gari back mar rahi hay", engine must be opened and can not fix it here, car must be toed to karachi.

what is "Back Marna" what went wrong.
mechanic said that you used stopper "thick oil" in cold weather.

i am waiting for a quick response as i have to give the car to mechanic but first i want to know what is the problem and solution.
