    Default Daewoo Racer/Cielo Fan Club

    Dear All,

I am an owner of Daewoo Racer since 1995. It has proven to be a very comfortable and economical car throughout this period. It used to give an average of 13Km/L within city and ~15Km/L on long drives. Here are some pictures:

I would recommend buying this car who want a better car at low budgets!

Any member having used a Daewoo car must share their experience....(y)

There is a feul filter which is located under the right rear door side under the vehicle. You can view it if you bend down and observe the lower side of vehicle near the rear tyre(it is a small silver rectangle cylinder made of steel ).It requires changing after inspection.Get it inspected by daewoo mechanics.
As for the vibration problem,it can occur when front disc pads wear out(15% probablitiy) but you will also feel increased vehicle braking distance and while applying brakes below 10km while taking sharp turn sometimes a slight pull during braking to any side as if one brake works and the other deosnt.
The other reason(99% probability) which usually is the cause is your front disc rotors.Over the time, they become defaced.Get them lined from kharati (cheaper but not 100% effectice cost Rs.400/-).My opinion go for new Front rotors (cost Rs.2400/- and 100% effective)Replace new brakepads geniune Rs.1400/-. and the rear ones inspected/serviced.
Points to improve disc rotor life:-
When you return from drive of more then 10min then avoid washing tyres or spilling water over disc-rotors for 30min. when driving down hill like daman-e-koh/peersohawa use low gears 1st gear and dont press the accelerator let the vehicle increase speed itself. If vehicle still gains speed instantly turn on your A/C and shift fan speed to lowest position. Apply slight forceful brake for 3-4seconds bringing the vehicle speed say from 45km/hr to 10km/hr and then let it gain speed itself.DONT PRESS ACCELERATOR. If for some reason you feel the brake pedal getting hard or showing resistance during operation, this indicates that brakes are getting hot.Dont panic just stop the vehicle and wait for 20min.DONOT PLACE WATER OVER HOT WHEELS AS IT WILL RESULT IN INSTANT DEFACING OF DISC ROTORS AND CRACKING OF DISC PAD MATERIAL.If the brakes heat up and you apply the above procedure then after returning from your journey visit the daewoo shop and get your brake calipers serviced and greased. This is important as due to excessive heat the low quality grease available in market melts and vanishes and thus brake system performance deteriorates even resulting in slight apllied brake problem(Brake Jam 30%)thus resulting in low feul mileage.

If there is problem with Steering bosch then the vibration will be constant.Slight at low speeds, increasing with speed and rough roads.Vinration increases with braking at high speeds. The problem can be also with worn out Tie Rod ends
In case of front disc rotors problem vibration occurs only when brakes are applied over 30km/hr.It increases as speed of vehicle increases but only occurs when brake pedal is being pressed

Both scenarios are explained - check and verify yourself

For Feul Filter:- There is a nut to hold the feul filter to the body and two screws at boht ends. You need spanners to unscrew it.
IMPORTANT:- If nuts and screws are tight then use WD 40 and if still hard then let Daewoo mechanics handle it as you will damage the screw resulting in slip position

After opening, blow air thru the inlet hole and check the air flow thru it.If clogged particles and dirty colour feul comes out then it needs replacement.Reduced air flow thru the filter is indication for replacement(Can only be judged if you have prior experience or have a new filter)

if you are referring to the condensor then if original one,it can not be repaired to satisfaction as welding the pipes is not possible due to its material.Buy a new one from Federal Autos Original:- Rs.8500/- and repalcement Korea Rs.6500/-.Both work fine

    @addy
Check your Plug Wires,Co mixture setting(3.33-3.80),air filter,S-Plugs for wear and gap them at 0.63mm.
As for the pulling problem check your Tie rod ends for wear or there is a connection with body of front suspension where gap occurs with time, check that if loose it needs to be welded and your problem is solved

    Hi all
I am a new comer to this club. I am using daewoo racer since March, 06. Its extremely fantastic to have its ride. I got it from a colonal for Rs 275000. Got its engine overhaled (Rs 13000). Since then, its working perfectly fine. I usually travel from Peshawar to isb, lhr. it covers 200-210 Km with 60 Kg cylinder without AC and 170 with AC. I am really fan of this car as no other car provides such luxurios drive at such low cost.

But my maximum speed is 120-130 on CNG. Is it fine? its a 4 gear car.

There r two workshops of daewoo in peshawar. Mistry Khairullah (0333-9129995) and Aurangzaib (0320-4951748).

I once had missing problem with my car. Suddenly brakes padel also hardened. I considered that there was no link between missing problem and hardening of barke padal. I replaced spark plugs but probelem was still there. Later on it was found that an air pipe linking engine and brakes servo was leaked. I got it repaired. Both problems were solved.

Car pick is very much associated with the spark plug timing. These timings are different for patrol and CNG. It can be very easily adjusted from the distributor.

Mr Shan. Wonderful instrument panel.........and bumpers.......and Lights....rather whole car. Its good to see such a nice car

Mr Testdriver. Excellent job by creating this group. and ur amazing technical knowledge. Excellect appraoch to buy alloy rims......

Let me introduce my self. I am Qasim Saeed serving in PAF. Posted now-a-days in peshawar. I got Daewoo racer from a colonal for Rs 275000. Golden colour, Isb no. Reg 1996. I got it single hand driven so in very good condition. I will soon post its pictures.

I am on a project to upgrade my daewoo from 4-speed to 5-speed. Checking market for that. A frined of mine, also a daewoo fan, lives in isb. He is checking budget requirement from isb market. Its cost is about 4000-5000 in pesh (kabli gear box). 600 Installation charges.

Just want to know the performance on 5-speed gear box? whats the expert opinion of experts????

Welcome to Daewoo Fan Club! and thanks for the nice comments.
Five gear box is only beneficial for highway users as at high speeds, the vehicle RPM stays at lower level which provides improvement in feul economy by 2-3km. Sideeffect is that no one knows how these gear boxes were used are how much driven thus may require repair shortly or have slight noise. My recommendations to use original coupled gearbox until it gives any problem as it is sparingly used with the vehicle and clean from dust and sute particles

I got 5 speed gear box from peshawar and got it installed. function check found OK. Gear box Rs 3300, labour charges 600, Gear oil 240. Total budget 4140. Gear bos is kabli.

A strage problem with my car. Its idle RPM fluctuates from 700-1200 without AC. With AC, RPM is stable at 900. This problem is only at idle RPM. During runnig, no missing and no fluctuation. I checked for electrical system (spark plug, cab;es etc) for any anomly but no problem found. Missing problem occurs only at idle rpm and without AC. No missing at higher rpm or with AC ON. It seems that there is something wrong with IAC. Is there any way i can check function of IAC at my home? Can anybody guide me???

Engine might be missing its old gear box..... They were together for last 13 years and, of course, both will b missing each other. seems materials have emotions too........lolz

If IAC valve has not been serviced and been used without cleaning over 5000km then get it cleaned via Daewoo Mechanics
also check your CO mixture setting, set it at 3.33 or 3.80 on digital meter(check prior posts for procedure)
