AOA!
I recently purchased a second hand Toyota Passo 2007. It is equipped with a Keyless entry and Keyless Ignition System. The only key that i got is the Fob which has a slit where the small mechanical key goes inside a sleeve. The problem is this that I can open the Driver Side Door when every the Smart Key is in my pocket by pressing on the small button on the Driver Side Handle but once I get inside the Vehicle i cannot start the Car as the ignition would not turnlMy solution is to remove the mechanical key from the Smart Transponder Sleeve, insert it in the ignition, touch the base of the Transponder close to the ignition area and then turn the ignition at which point the car would start. Now this process is a total painful and long one. I have tried replacing the batteris of the Smart Key but to no avail. I am confused that if the Car is recognizing the transponder to unlock the doors, why is it not recognizing it when inside to let the vehicle start without the small mechanical key. Please help and advise. Also if you think that my Key is to blame then let me know where i can have a duplicate one made and what cost? Or do you think that the ECU RFID antenna inside the car is to blame as it doesnt detect the Transponder inside the Car.
many thanks for your help.
as per user manual, the antenna is located between front seats, the area of typical cars hand brake.you can check, maybe the cable of that antenna is not properly connected or broken,
this maybe the reason, but i m not sure
Sounds like weak remote battery
key would cost you around 25k ,when inside ur vehicle do u see a small red light blinking on the key when you press the ignition button? have u replaced correct battery with the same volts
Dear. I faced the same issue with my Passo last year. Solution is simple. No need of 25k remote, just replace the cell of the remote for 250pkr. It will work for sure.

Just replace the cell.
Well it is the Sofa Seat Style one. I guess I would have to remove the seat and the carpetting to get to the antenna or is there a better way to get to it. I also dont know what the thing looks like.
Yes when inside I see the small red light of immobiliser blinking. When I press the ignition to turn it it starts to blink at twice the speed. Do you think it is weak battery but if the battery is weak how is it working outsdide the car where i can perform keyless entry but not keyless ignition
I just replaced the cell last night. It is CR2032 with correct voltage but the problem remains. The mystery is that if it is weak cell how can i lock and unlock the car with the SmartKey and perform Keyless Entry. The issue is only with Keyless Ignition where the immoboliser light would continue to blink when i am inside the vehicle and i have to perform the emergency start sequence which i mentioned in my post below.
I have replaced the Cell a couple of times but to no avail. The mystery is that if it is weak cell how can i lock and unlock the car with the SmartKey and perform Keyless Entry. The issue is only with Keyless Ignition where the immoboliser light would continue to blink when i am inside the vehicle and i have to perform the emergency start sequence which i mentioned in my post above.
Changed reomote battery couple of times (CR2032) but to no avail. the remote works fine outside the car to lock unlock from distance, perform keyless entry but is not recognized for keyless ignition. Any help/suggestion would be great.
ok as per my experience opening a veh requires less power my car did the same thing it would open but not start, maybe the replacement of cell has caused some malfunction, have u checked international forums.I read the manual on passo they have keyless ignition not working chapter do u have the manual?
Thanks for the reply. Can you email me the manual please @ gmasood@gmail.com. I have tried some onlione translation of jaspnese and it suggests the method i am using for starting car. Can you also tell me the battery model no and where to get the original one from lhr or isb. I checked my current newly installed battery using violtmeter and it was showing 3 volts as it should be but still ecu is not detecting the key inside.
i got maxell cell and i have mailed u
Many thanks for the manual. I posted on international forums and they told me that the Smart Key/Fob has two parts, one for unlocking the door and the second for verification of the immobilizer/ECU. It might be that the later part is broken or is out of Synch from the Immobolizer. Can you point me out in the direction as to whom to contact for a spare key/Fob in lahore or Islambad and how much it would cost?
and im sure you paid more than 1 million. sad . these cars need to come down below 1M with all the odd problems people facing.
Dear, in Islamabad i may help you replace the cell from same place where i changed mine. There is one watch outlet in front of ILLUSSION's Jinnah Super. Just take it to him nd ask him to replace the cell. It worked for me.
