First DSLR?

friends i am new to this great community pakwheelers are very helping and nice:) i am using Compact P&S nikon camera now after learning some photography basics i want to upgrade to a DSLR thinking to buy Nikon D70 or D50+18-55 kit lens and learn as both are low price and flickr samples are awesome
So please suggest me camera body and lens as well:)

rates change very frequently, its better to make a visit to the camera market in ur city to have a better idea....

or if u can, i would suggest the D90...if u know how to use aperture, iso, shutter speed etc and have a knowledge of these modes. but if u are just starting as a beginner, D3100 all the way!

I think new D3100 is best for you but if u want used then D90 is the way to go.

i am a user of D3100 and its result is awesome

using 18-55mm basic lens kit.... D3100 is not a low level cam. It is with 11 point focus point and have settings of aperture, iso and shutter on different modes.....

used DSLR around 30k and around 20k for buying acc(softbox,flash,filters,tripod,bag etc)
Students are always on budget:D

In terms of a new camera, I would agree with what others have suggested, the D3100 is the best starter DSLR out there.

However, if your budget only allows a used one, then a D60 or D70 would be the next best option. A D90 will be a bit more advanced and the price of a used D90 might be close to a new D3100, so might not be suitable for your budget IMO.

one question is there in my mind D70 has no live view option so how to focus on objects manually(A)

D3100 is available in both khi and lhr for 50k with kit lens
or get a used dslr but this is a risky choice and i prefer u buy new

You use the viewfinder to manually focus. Live view just provides you the ability to use your LCD similar to P&S cameras.

If you are shooting still objects and have access to laptop etc. then u can use software to shoot from your system and also there is some set-up which provides output to monitor which only magnifies and u shoot from camera.

But ... no live view in D70 or D70s.

BTW, get D70s as its battery life is much better with bigger lcd screen
