here is some information which might help you......
This season
when we visited this lake about 10supth/sup July 2009 , it was fully covered with snow,
as last winter there were heavy snow falls but hopefully it will be clear till first week of August….
We found about 22 glaciers on the road from naran to BASAL whereas last season when we visited JALKHAT
(10-15 Km before BASAL)
we found only 2 glaciers that time…..
From Naran you have to hire Jeep till BASAL which is about 40-50 Km from naran… and roughly cost for jeep is 2500-3000 … before leaving naran make sure to keep warm clothes with you and enough food stuff in which you return easily as from BASAL to onwards you will not get any food however you can get DALL MASH
at BASTI.
From BASAL to lake 18km walking , some where you have to cross risky glaciers … if you are not good in hiking then please get horse from basal which will cost about 1500-2000, At least hire one horse for your bags , as you cannot walk 18km in hilly area with you bags .
You cannot return in one day from this lake to naran. so plan to spend night there,
you can get camp there at “BASTI” which is 1.5km before lake in a very reasonable price , by the way we got in 700 , and capacity is about 8 person per camp.
It’s all about adventure …. Very beautiful sceneries on this way ….
